December News!

Hello friends,

Last Sunday I attended a workshop for teachers that assisted with working on "focus and intent." The workshop brought clarity to the first cycle of a routine that I have often felt foggy about. The workshop was so inspiring that I will be teaching Earthsong for one more week, allowing us to play with focus and intent, sensing how it changes a routine that we have been moving for a while. The following Thusrday we will begin working Opal, a routine with really great music and movement. Come join me this week as we play with Earthsong one more time and for future classes with Opal.

Just as a reminder...

There is no class on December 25th. Beth O'Neall will be teaching a class (or two) on Christmas Eve if you are interested. Also, Erin Damour will be teaching a "Day After Christmas" class, that is sure to be juicy and a nice follow up to the Christmas holiday.

A shoutout to my Montana co-workers...thank you so much for being such an amazing team of people to work with. I have thoroughly enjoyed the last 10 months of work. I am also thankful for the fun-filled, wonderful Christmas party. I will definitely be wearing the "Danching Hydrologist" shirt to a class soon.

November Updates

Hello friends!

The teachers of Albuquerque and Santa Fe collaborated and participated in a day of photography to get shots for promotional and marketing purposes. It was a wonderful day of beauty, creativity, support, and laughter. Thank you to all of our photographers, I really appreciate the gift that you have given me and the rest of the teachers. Also, THANK YOU ERIN! She organized the day, for which I am forever grateful. Here are a few of the beautiful shots of the day:

On to the news...
  • There is no class on November 25th since it is a holiday. The good news is that Beth is teaching a class at 9:15 AM that morning, so you can come and get your Nia-fix before the day of feasting and family.

  • Erin Damour will be subbing for me on December 4th while I am gone on travel for work. Please come to dance with the beautifully, elegant Erin.

  • If you are interested in taking the White Belt Intensive Training in January, let Beth or Holly know so they can get a feel for interest. I am more than happy to talk about my experience and you can always email Holly with questions and/or concerns.

I hope that you all are having a beautiful week. The weather has been gorgeous and the colors of the season intense.

I look forward to dancing with you in the near future.

Hello friends!

Kristine Susco and I are organizing a carpool up to Santa Fe on Saturday, October 25th to take class with Carlos Rosas. The class fee is $26.98 and class starts at 6 PM. We were thinking that it would be lovely to go to dinner after class to enjoy the warmth of the dance and community. There are many options though! October Routine - Earthsong

Come and dance with me as we play with Earthsong, starting October 8, 2008.

As fall is settling in here in Albuquerque, I have sense the desire to ground myself and stay focused. I get an overwhelming sense of excitement during this time of year, with the increased sensations around me - roasting chiles, changing leaves, crisp morning and evening air. I also find myself looking forward to the season ahead. The fall season has also brought a lot of newness to my life, adding to the feeling of shifting. With all of this going on, I have a strong desire to root myself and focus. Earthsong has been exactly what my mind and body has needed and I want to share the experience with you!

Earthsong is a wonderful routine for all levels of Nia experience. It focuses on "The One Point" with the intent of focusing movement from your body's center of gravity. For this routine, the movement form of Aikido is highlighted because it teachs us how to sense the One Point in our movement.

We will discuss what the One Point is, where it can be found physically in the body, and then we will play with movement while we harness the energy of this seat of energy. You will feel invigorated, balanced, and grounded as you leave the Earthsong routine.

I look forward to seeing you on the dance floor soon.
